What Does the Tanach/Jewish Scripture Say ?
1. Can “religion” bring us to God?
“But your iniquities have separated between you and
your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.”
(Isaiah 59:2)
2. Are people “good” in the eyes of God?
“God looked down from heaven upon the children of
men…they are altogether become filthy,
there is none that does good no not one.” (Psalm 53:2, 3)
3. Can our own “righteousness”/good works please God?
“But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our
righteousnesses are as filthy rags… and our iniquities, like the wind, have
taken us away (Isaiah 64:6)
4. How can “atonement” be made for our sin?
“For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon
the altar to make an atonement for
your souls: for it is the blood that
makes an atonement for the soul.”
(Leviticus 17:11)
5. Would God require “blood” and
not provide a way for sacrifice?
“But He [Yeshua Hamashiach/Jesus the Messiah] was
wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities…the LORD has
laid upon Him the iniquity of us all…Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He
has put Him to grief: when Thou shalt make His soul an offering [sacrifice] for
sin” (Isaiah 53:5, 6, 10)
6. Do all people need to “trust in
Him” the Son of God/Messiah?
“Kiss the Son
lest He be angry, and ye perish from the way, when His wrath is kindled but a
little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him [Yeshua
Hamashiach/Jesus the Messiah].” (Psalm 2:12)
7. Can we know if we will spend eternity in
heaven?
·
Job knew that he would “see God” (Job 19:26)
·
David was confident of “living forever” (Psalm 49:9, 15)
. Isaiah understood his “salvation shall be for
ever” (Isaiah 51:6)
